Emma Hedrick is a 6-time DownBeat award-winning, vocalist, composer, and arranger. She currently lives in The Hague, Netherlands while performing and pursuing her Master’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire on a Holland Scholarship.
The Indianapolis native received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Jazz Performance, as the Presser Scholar, from the Frost School of Music, University of Miami. In 2019, Emma was a finalist in the International Ella Fitzgerald Vocal Competition where she placed 3rd. Emma has headlined at various venues including the St. Petersburg Jazz Festival (FL), Next Con at Indy Jazzfest, and The Jazz Kitchen. She has also had the honor of performing in the Telluride Jazz Festival and as a part of the Aspen JAS Academy directed by Christian McBride.
Emma aspires to take her audiences through the story of each song she sings and strives to use the voice in traditional and nontraditional ways. Emma’s band is created from the brightest up-and-coming talent in the United States with members from across the country. She is honored to share the stage with creative musicians who respect the art form and who all have distinctive perspectives adding to the music. Their set is a fresh take on favorite standards full of rearrangements and new interpretations.
