KAIT DUNTON is a Los Angeles-based keyboardist, composer and bandleader with eight albums of genre-pushing original music and hundreds of thousands of followers on social media and Spotify. Kait’s joyful energy and playful spirit combined with her raw emotional style have garnered her a devoted fanbase whom she invites to live in the moment right alongside her.
Starting with her first album, Real & Imagined—now a fan favorite with over three million streams—Kait has continued to cultivate her signature sound over many subsequent albums and releases, including her latest single featuring her evocative improvisational style—and with nearly three million views on Instagram: “this one’s for you”.

Her band with Andrew Synowiec on guitar, Sean Hurley on bass and Jake Reed on drums is the driving force behind her latest music and a wellspring of inspiration, support and friendship. Together this year they released two full-length albums, enjoyed a residency at the famed Baked Potato Jazz Club, and toured and performed at the 66th Monterey Jazz Festival.

Influenced by the work of Richard Tee, Ahmad Jamal, E.S.T., Brad Mehldau, Chick Corea, and Herbie Hancock, among others, Kait has evolved from an acoustic piano purist to a confident multi-keyboardist with her own 70s-inspired jazz-funk sound, incorporating many different styles within the expansive realm of jazz, including classical, pop, rock, R&B, soul, gospel, Brazilian, and Latin. As a keyboardist, composer, and songwriter, Kait’s music has amassed an avid and engaged fanbase, including nearly 140,000 Instagram followers, over 60,000 monthly Spotify listeners, and over 18,000 TikTok
followers.

Kait’s latest album, Keyboards – with Sean Hurley on bass and Jake Reed on drums – celebrates the sounds, timbres and instruments of the 70s—especially the classic vintage keyboards like the Fender Rhodes, Hammond B3, Wurlitzer & Clavinet. This album also represents an evolution in Kait’s sound and style—a focus more on groove and cultivating a sonic signature and is a shift away from the complex composition and arrangement prevalent in some of her past albums.
Andrew Synowiec on guitar adds the fourth element to the live performance quartet.

In addition to composition and performance, Kait is also an active recording artist and educator. Her playing appears extensively on the Mister Rogers movie, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, as well as in The Lego Movie 2, Downsizing, Empire, and ABC’s The Little Mermaid Live! Kait was an early member of Snarky Puppy during their formative years in Texas, appearing on their sophomore record, The World is Getting Smaller. She records often for film, television and other artists, and has taught at the University of North Texas, USC’s Thornton School of Music, Musician’s Institute, Chaffey College, and most recently at Los Angeles College of Music (LACM) in Pasadena, where she developed their new Piano Performance program and served as the inaugural chair.
