Ed Laub Trio 2017-06-19T22:43:16+00:00

Project Description

In 1969, Ed Laub began his studies with the master of the seven-string guitar, Bucky Pizzarelli. The bond of friendship formed immediately, though their careers took separate paths for decades until they joined together in the early 2000s as a compelling guitar duo. Today, Pizzarelli and Laub combine on instrumental and vocal arrangements from the Great American Songbook and classic jazz guitar sounds from the 1930s. In Elkhart, they’ll be joined by two other highly acclaimed musicians – guitarist Gene Bertoncini and bassist Martin Pizzarelli. While Laub studied music and learned from the best, he ultimately chose to play in weekend bands while running his family’s business. He never lost touch with his idol, Bucky Pizzarelli – the legend who has done everything from playing as a regular with the Tonight Show Orchestra to accompanying Frank Sinatra during a White House performance. Bertoncini has backed Tony Bennett, Nancy Wilson, Vic Damone and Edye Gorme, and also had a two-year stint with Johnny Carson on “Tonight.” Martin Pizzarelli has achieved fame in his own right while still finding time to make great music with dad Bucky, brother John, and sister-in-law Jessica Molaskey.
